The BCRC fosters capability building in renewable bio-based fuels, chemicals, industrial products, and power to catalyze the creation of new industries and supports technical improvements in efficient and economical use of biomass in agriculture- and forest-based industries.

The primary goal of the research Center is to tap the intellectual capital of our nation’s institutions to tackle issues of resources conservation and diversification and environmental sustainability.

Pakistan is agriculture based country.  Biomass initiative will spawn a brand new industry in Pakistan. Plants grown for biomass purposes will further be manipulated for reduced lignin content and increased yields by utilizing emergent molecular biology tools. The technology developed at the Center will be transferred to our industry partners for commercialization, which will be a significant boost towards energy independence.

Education priorities will build a strong core of future workers in the area of biobased industries by developing ground-breaking competitions, science modules, infrastructure development, web-based education plan and conferences with support of scholarships and industrial internships for participants. Outreach priorities geared towards growers, support Centers and consumers, will include improving public exposure to biobased manufacturing and sustainability models to achieve awareness, which will facilitate the transfer of information and technology for the public’s benefit.

We will initiate the process for future research initiative and funding venues, which will enhance our academic curricula, experiential learning and internship opportunities for our students.

BCRC is intends to develop capabilities in Agriculture Sciences, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Natural products chemistry, biochemistry, Microbiology, Fermentation, Chemical, Biochemical and process Engineering, Mechanical and Biomechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Molecular biology, Genetics.
